The Griot's Nest Foundation

The Griot's Nest Foundation  is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting emerging Black writers. We provide microgrants, scholarships, and practical resources—funding writing getaways, contest and submission fees, supplies, subscriptions, and opportunities to attend conferences or retreats. Our mission is simple: remove financial barriers so Black storytellers can create, rest, and share the stories our communities deserve.

The Griot’s Nest Foundation grew out of Griot’s Nest. After years of writing together, producing stories, and dreaming of a world where Black writers have what they need, the founders created the Foundation to turn that dream into tangible support—one microgrant at a time.
