About Us

The year was 1998 at THE NORTH CAROLINA CENTRAL UNIVERSITY. Amid the sloping hills and verdant green floating between Annie Day Shepard dormitory and the Farrison Newton Communications building, three creatives crossed paths as English majors and members of the University Honors Program. A fast friendship was formed and despite years and miles apart, a bond of artistic expression and commitment to authentic storytelling brought us back together 25 years later. With common influences, shared interests, and diverse perspectives, the reconnection was easy and organic after writing together in our formative years at our dear old NCC. Together we established Griot's Nest, a writing collaborative fostering stylistic storytelling to share nuances of the human experience. Black pens. Bold Plots. Shared Power.
